Short hair styles for women are back and have been for the last few years. The latest big trend was back in the nineties when bobs and crops were seen on the runways as well as the streets. In its current trend, several A-List celebrities have adopted this hair trend and cut their hair shorter.
It is a brave thing to do – cutting of your hair, which you might have grown for years – but it is also worth it! A crop hairdo is easy to style; you just need to know how to.

This autumn the messy crop is a key look. Make it look trendy and playful by brushing the hair forwards and to the side. Use a hair product that will give the hair some volume and finish off by adding some styling wax which will create that rough look. Check out Michelle Williams and her cute pixie crop to get more tips.
For a finer and less volumised crop skip the volume products. Instead use styling gel or wax for some texture, but do not overdo it if you want the hair looking natural. Check out gorgeous American actress Ginnifer Goodwin for more inspiration; she went from long hair to a bob to the crop!
A popular style is also the straight crop with a side parting. Actress Cate Blanchett and Rihanna have both tried this stylish crop making them look more serious than the flirty pixie crop. Use a pair of hair straighteners to get the style. Use a pair with smaller plates, such as the ghd IV mini styler which is perfect for shorter hair. You can find this on ghdhair.com.
Last but not least; check out hot Halle Berry to get her though boyish and edgy looking crop. This style requires wax and attitude!

Benefit Magic Ink rrp: $38
Behold, here is a beauty landing that eases the pains of precision! Magic Ink by Benefit is a a godsend for little me; it’s a jet-black, liquid eyeliner with a super-skinny applicator for precise lining. I wear black liner on my upper-lid religiously, so I have worn this every day over the long-weekend. It has a specially developed smudge-proof formula that glides right on and it managed to survive the harsh down-pours in Sydney! So far, so good! If you love the look of a classically lined upper-lid, then this is a perfect product; the ink is ultra-pigmented, resulting in a clean black line and the precision brush is perfect for achieving a very sleek outer wing!
Benefit Magic Ink Jet-Black Liquid Eyeliner is available from Benefit counters from 6th November

Hot off the press!!! I heard whisperings that the delighful Soap & Glory is about to arrive in Kit Stores nationwide on 11th October. Soap & Glory is a fab brand designed by beauty industry darling, Marcia Kilgore, also founder of the successful Bliss Spa range. I am a long-term fan of the brand having previously purchased it on trips overseas, where it has been around for a little while. In a nutshell, Soap & Glory is a beauty must-have in your cupboards, it offers a wide range of reasonably priced, gorgeously scented, cruelty-free products in delightful (mostly pink!), vintage style packaging. My fave piece from the collection is FlakeAway: a superhero-strength, skin-smoothing scrub.

Dr Bronner's Magic Liquid Soap rrp: $7.95
It seems that more than ever, beauty brands with a conscience are making an impact in the Australian beauty industry and I, for one, will always give as much attention to these as possible on this site. The latest of these is US brand, Dr Bronner, who is already well known over there for his famous ‘Dr Bronner’s Magic Soap’. The certified organic range of liquid soaps are literally quite magical and claim to have an impressive 18 uses for one bottle! Best used with a cloth or sponge, the soaps can be used to clean the body, mouth, teeth, fruit and veg, bathroom and kitchen, clothes and even pets! They come in seven variants, the original being the famous tingly Peppermint, my personal fave, closely followed by traditional Rose and fresh Eucalyptus. Despite being impressed by the many uses, I have chosen to keep my bottle of liquid soap reserved for shower time only. The bottles are a pop at $7.95 each and also have charming labels which include Dr Bronner’s philosophy; featuring musings on everything from Shakespeare to Confucious. Dr Bronner’s products are available at health, natural product and organic stores nationally.

Invisible Zinc Tinted Cheek + Lip Balm rrp: $18
One of my fave turn-to brands is the ever-smart Invisible Zinc. I have very fortunately just discovered their Tinted Lip + Cheek Balm which is a chubby, go-anywhere tinted sun-stick for use on lips and cheeks. Like all IZ products, it offers full Zinc sun protection, while adding a delightful pop of pink to your lips and/or cheekbones. The clever-clogs shade is designed to suit every skin tone, so moisturizes, protects and enhances the natural pink in lips and cheeks while offering very high UVA and UVB protection. A great little gearing-up for summertime skin-saver, which I urge you to go and try!

These red carpet Emmy Award’s shots of January Jones and Claire Danes have got me lusting after a bottle of peroxide. Fresh- faced and dazzling, they demonstrate how to do classy, goldie-lock beauty to absolute perfection! Key to this look is the teaming of simple, minimal make-up with a gorgeous, soft blow-dry.

January Jones

Claire Danes
To compliment this look you need a good nude/rosy-pink lipstick, shimmering eyeshadow (prefs with gold tones), teamed with a flawless complexion. Here are my picks:
Bobbi Brown’s ‘Burnt Sugar’ Metallic Shadow offers high shimmer and accentuates the baby blues…

Next- up we have Benefit Full Finish Lipstick in ‘La La Land’; a beautiful pinky-beige hue with a silky-smooth texture, which glides over your pouting pretties! This is the type of shade that compliments any hair shade and one of my all-time favourite lip colours…

Benefit Full-Finish Lipstick in 'La La Land' rrp: $30
I have just discovered Divina Natural Finish Loose Mineral Foundation. I normally opt for liquid foundations so this is the first powder based foundation I’ve tried that i’m giving the thumbs-up! It delivers picture-perfect porcelain skin and also has a slight sparkle to it for added brightness.

False eyelashes can conjure up images of drag queens, glamour models and sixties groupies. However, they are becoming more and more popular in the beauty world with the development of in-salon extensions and at- home kits, that provide natural and gorgeous lash enhancements. I recently trialled the Ardell DuraLash Naturals (rrp: $8.50) in black. They provide individual lashes which you can attach at home, will last up to four weeks and are super easy to apply. You can add as little drama to your look as you wish; I started with 3 individuals applied on the upper lash-line from the outside corner, which is what I would recommend to keep them looking subtle. I would advise adding some mascara to your natural eyelashes, so that they blend in better with the extensions; 3-4 lashes on each eye are probably all you need to get some impact!

Ardell DuraLash individuals rrp: $8.50 for a pack of 56
Ardell advise using their eyelash adhesive, LashTite, which comes out crystal clear, it is also designed to last for a couple of weeks so very durable. Individual falsies are the perfect way to enhance your eyes and offer a chic way of prettying-up your make-up look.

LashTite Adhesive rrp: $6.50

I love beauty products: FACT. But once in a while a product comes along that sends me glass-of-champagne-giddy. So, it is with great pleasure that I am introducing you to Girl Meets Pearl, from our friends at Benefit. We just met, yesterday, actually. Pearl doesn’t arrive in stores until 8th September but I thought i’d give you readers a little preview, so you can snap her up when she hits counters.
